If I remember correctly, the winning TD pass in the 1980 state championship game was "Frog 91" (or maybe "Frog 92.") Quarterback Barry Tucker started left - like he was running another option play - and then rose up and hit the receiver on a quick slant/post pattern in the back of the end zone.
It was a perfect pass and the receiver never dropped a pass that I remember.
I know the play because I was the third string QB and had to know all the plays. I was also a cub reporter for The Trojan Myths who later wrote a story about the state championship game. The lede of that story was about "Frog 91."
"Frog" was the nickname of another player, who had once been a wide receiver, but was switched to cornerback. That player became a successful long-time high school football coach.
All the plays were signalled in by hand signals and the team never huddled - which was very rare in 1980.
After I posted this, I found a great picture of the 1980 State Championship team at Coach Mike Hogan's Facebook Page. I've now added that photo to this story. It shows the answer to Question No. 24.
The state championship game took place Dec. 5, 1980 - almost exactly 44 years ago. That's still the only state championship Troy or CHHS has ever won. The Trojans did finish as runner-ups twice.
For bonus points, who threw the winning TD pass? (I even remember what the play was called).
Actually, the homicidal bank robber did NOT rob the Ozark bank, because he didn't get any money. He attempted to rob this bank. He had previously robbed a bank in Auburn and Albert Scarbrough was quoted as saying he saw the same man casing out a bank in Troy.
