Hey everyone! 🙋‍♀️ Just a quick question for you all—do you own snow shovels? As a Canadian who’s experienced 60 winters, I can’t remember a time when there wasn’t snow on the ground from October to April! 😱 It’s kind of wild, right? I often find myself dreaming of living somewhere where I’d never have to deal with that white, cold stuff! 😂 Hope you’re all staying warm!

Snow shovels? I don't think they've ever been sold or purchased in L.A. (Lower Alabama). Thank goodness I don't have to shovel snow.

Great photos, Bill. Thanks for sharing. Snow is fun when you don't get it all the time.

I haven't changed since I was 7-years-old and was mesmerized by an even bigger snow storm we had in Opelika, Alabama in 1973. I looked forward to this snow event as much as my two children. I'm also impressed that the meteorologist called/predicted this snow storm ... about a week ago. Sometimes they get their forecasts right. Although, actually, the early forecasts were that Troy would/might get "two to three" inches. We ended up getting almost six inches with places near us getting even more snow.

Snow in Alabama? It's just your imagination, Bill.

Most likely from heat stroke, ya know. ;-)

Beautiful pics. My son is in Florida and he said they got 7 inches! We are from Colorado so he was surprised everything was closed, including the grocery store.

Wow, I hope this deep freeze spares the beautiful southern gardens and trees, as well as wildlife as unaccustomed to it as humans are. Take care!

Amazing. The further south you went, the more snow people got. Famous/infamous embalmer Richard Hirschman lives in Ozark. A mutual friend told me Richard got 8 inches where he lives - just 30 miles south of me. I wrote a story on Andalusia's "fake snow" Christmas attraction a few weeks ago. Andalusia got 8 inches of the real stuff yesterday. One little community in the same county got 11 inches!

It really is something to behold. I come from IL, so this is old hat to me, but this is more snow than even IL is getting this year

Re chart of the US: do you mean no state in the country reached temps ABOVE freezing?

That's a "wind chill" map I found at Citizen Free Press. So these were the "feels like" temperatures in America at 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday. In Troy, the real temperature was 19 around 6:30 this morning.

Thank you for clarifying. Here in the Detroit area, it is very cold with no wind. Schools are closed here too.

A good number of people who live in Troy used to live in Detroit. The lady who runs the convenience store I visit often used to live there. A couple of days ago when I told her I was looking forward to the snow she instantly replied, "I'm not. I used to live in Detroit."
