Mrs. Green aced the test (but so did another trivia whiz). Here are the answers & some Bonus Trivia + my back stories on why I picked these 26 questions. Also, CHMS cheerleaders and Troy makes ESPN.
Here's the article I wrote as sports editor of The Messenger after covering the "Ripley's Believe or Not" basketball game - Troy vs. DeVry, January 12, 1992.
The game was played on a Sunday afternoon. Since The Messenger had already published its Sunday morning edition and didn't have a Monday edition, this article was published on January 14, 1992.
BTW, I remember it had snowed on Saturday night and there was still a little snow on the ground in some places when the game was played.
Excerpt from my article in 1992 provides another amazing stat lines:
"For the game, troy had 28 dunks to go with its 51 three-pointers. In other words, 209 of Troy’s 258 points came either via the long ball or the very short ball. “I don’t know how many dunks I had,” Bryan said. "It was hard to keep track. I guess it was about eight.”
I hope subscribers check out this website site from time to time as I often add extra content and photos after I send out my emails to subscribers.
For example, today I've added two new news briefs, plus my first "editorial cartoon" on the huge number of Drone sightings in New Jersey and other states. This cartoon cracks me up.
I also fix all the typos and errors I find as soon as I find them. This article was replete with typos, probably because I was writing it as I ate some Mickey D's French fries. I know this is an excuse, but a journalist has to eat. I'm curious to see if anyone takes me up on my offer to win their own large fries by answering the seven Bonus Trivia Questions I added.
For Dot and Amie, these questions would probably be a layup - kind of like Troy State hitting three-pointers against DeVry.
In researching more facts on the Troy-DeVry game from January 1992, I found several interesting articles (including one I wrote for The Messenger 32 years ago). One of the game's many amazing stats/records is that in the game Troy hit 30 (!) three-pointers in the game's second half.
This by itself was the all-time record for "three-pointers made in one game" ... and Troy broke this record in 20 minutes of game action!
Coach Maestri's Trojans broke their own previous record for three-pointers made in one half (25), which the team set in the prior season in a game against DeVry.
ESPN just ran a story on the “Best Quotes of College Football in 2024” and the quote in the headline - “We’re stopping at Buc-ee’s” - is from Troy football coach Gerad Parker.
Here’s the sub-headline and full text from the excellent feature story:

"Thank you very much. We're stopping at Buc-ee's." --Troy head coach Gerad Parker, ending his ESPN+ postgame interview after the Trojans, who started 1-7, won their first road game of the season 28-20 over Georgia Southern. Parker said he was "coached up at the fudge station" to get some peanut butter fudge.
Bonus-Bonus-Bonus Trivia Question:
Who was the Sartain Hall P.A. announcer in the Troy-DeVry game who called out "Simpson for three - good!" ... 11 times?
